Sew Your Own Wardrobe

Students will create a unique garment while learning ready-to-wear sewing techniques. We’ll review the basic techniques of machine and hand sewing. We’ll also cover measuring for personal fit, garment design, pattern use, fabric selection and manipulation, sewing tools and terminology. Learn how to read a pattern, proper layout and cutting techniques, traditional and modern stitch methods, marking and transferring darts. We’ll cover installing zippers and pockets as well as seaming and finishing techniques.

Special Notes

  • Sewing machines are supplied, but you may bring your own if you prefer.
  • No class February 21st.
