Volunteer at make space

Make Space pairs 18 sixth-grade girls—all of whom attend Anna Julia Cooper School in the East End of Richmond—with 18 women for a year of mentorship and art-making. VisArts launched the program in the fall of 2008, then called Space of Her Own, and since has impacted the lives of more than 300 women and girls. Make Space is an affiliate member of the Virginia Mentoring Partnership.

GENERAL volunteer opportunities

The Visual Arts Center of Richmond relies on hundreds of volunteers each year. Amongst other things, volunteers help with:
•    Special Events
•    Gallery Openings
•    Administrative Work
•    Education and Outreach
•    Marketing
•    Facilities

Please keep in mind that you must:
•    Be at least 14 to volunteer at VisArts
•    Be at least 16 to volunteer at one of our special events
•    Be at least 21 years old to serve alcohol at one of our special events
•    Successfully complete a background check to work with kids

All VisArts volunteers receive a $10 credit towards an art class when they volunteer. For Craft + Design, Collectors’ Night, and Chili Throwdown, you can redeem two hours for a $10 credit. All other events, you can redeem four hours for a $10 credit. Volunteer credits earned can only be applied towards tuition costs. Please contact [email protected] for full terms.
