Group Tours and Workshops
The Visual Arts Center of Richmond makes a great stop for groups large and small. If your tour group is planning a trip to Richmond, consider building a two-hour stop at VisArts into your itinerary. And if you live nearby, our gallery tours and workshops make for a unique group outing.
Most group visits include a gallery tour and a studio workshop but can be adapted to fit the needs of your group.
Docent-led Gallery Tour
The gallery tour includes an overview of the current exhibition, the viewing of a short video about the artist and a discussion about the artist’s materials and process. One of our trained docents will lead your group through the gallery, providing enough time at the conclusion of the tour for people to ask questions and do some exploring on their own.
Select from a series of workshops in one of the 11 media we teach at the Visual Arts Center. We always offer at least one workshop that incorporates themes from the current exhibition. All art workshops are led by a professional artist or arts educator. Plan on an hour and a half for this portion of the program.
Group tours and workshops must be arranged at least three weeks in advance. If you’re with a non-profit, talk to us about our Engage program. We provide free tours and workshops to community-based organizations.
