Revision Workshop – NEW!

Have a story that needs work but you don’t know where to start? In this workshop, students learn different methods for revision, how to assess and incorporate feedback, and work through their own revision of a short story or novel excerpt. Nothing we write can stand on its own without some phase of revision. Students will come away with resources and actionable steps for how to proceed with further revision on their own.

Special Notes

  • On day one, students turn in a finished early draft of a story that they intend to workshop twice during the class. If a student prefers to workshop a novel excerpt, they must provide a one-page summary of the novel’s plot, with particular attention to contextualizing where the excerpt exists in that summary. Students will provide written feedback for each other's work. Additional homework includes short reading assignments or listening to a podcast.
