ONSITE: Quilted Coat Redux: Modern Quilt MashUp

Want to design your very own quilted coat that doesn't give off "Michelin Man" vibes? Then this class is for you! We'll combine the simple design techniques of modern quilting with a wonderful size-inclusive pattern. Plus, tips on material selection and quilt techniques to guide you in creating your dream, quilted, fashion garment. Join our Friday Night Sew Salon and sew the quilted coat YOU want! The foundation of this workshop will be an overview of common garment design elements that can impact the fit of your quilt coat, how to choose your materials and quilting for optimal drape, and the importance of considering design ease to achieve your desired final fitting.

Special Notes

  • Must be an experience quilter. This class will not teach quilting basics. When participants register, please email [email protected] to indicate which size range you want. Must have knowledge of how to construct a quilt, including making and attaching bias binding. Must have thorough knowlege of using a sewing machine.

    This is an ONSITE course. All onsite students are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Students are expected to adhere to our COVID-19 policies. Onsite courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. For more info please visit visarts.org.
