ONSITE: Introduction to Flat Pattern Making for Clothing Construction
This course will cover the fundamental skills of flat-pattern design, the process of using “blocks” or “slopers” to create sewing patterns for apparel design. Students will learn how to take body measurements for pattern making and introduce them to the two methods of dart manipulation. Students will use these methods on bodice, pant, skirt and dress slopers in order to create new and original designs.

- Students should have a basic knowledge of sewing/ garment construction.Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.This is an On-site course. Students must follow current Covid-19 protocols, as outlined on our website. About the Instructor
Nakia Young-EL
Nakia Young is a creative in almost every area of her life. A graduate of Stevenson university with a Bachelor's in Fashion Design she has worked as a freelance designer, pattern-maker and surface pattern designer in the years since her graduation in 2015. Young has been sewing and designing for over 20 years and also currently works as a paid theater actor.
