ONSITE: Flex Shaft Magic

This weekend workshop is great for those who want to get more out of the flex shaft. Learn to use the flex shaft to cut discs, prepare pieces for stone setting, create designs with abrasive wheels, reshape silicone wheels and more.

Special Notes

  • Students should have completed at least one beginner level metal jewelry class or have comparable experience.

    This class meets 10-4 on Saturday and 12-4 on Sunday.

    Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.

    This is an On-site course. Students must follow current Covid-19 protocols, as outlined on our website. On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. Please visit for more information.

About the Instructor

Jay Sharpe

Jay Sharpe grew up in Richmond, VA, attended VCU and graduated in 1990 with a BFA in Fine Arts, with a focus on metalsmithing and fine jewelry. Jay promptly began his career at the Hand Workshop (which is now known as Visual Arts Center of Richmond) that same year. He became on of VisArts' Master Teacher recipients in 2014 and hasn't stopped teaching since! His jewelry line, Henléava Jewelry Collection, has been featured in Essence Magazine, Richmond Magazine, and Southern Living Magazine, and worn by several celebrities.
