B: Clay Pinchpot Trinket Dishes with Merenda Cecelia (Adults and Youth 6+ with Registered Adult)
Spend an evening in the clay studio with ceramicist Merenda Cecelia, and create beautiful small dishes and vessels for special trinkets! This class will go over the basic techniques of pinch pots to build an imaginatively shaped vessel to hold tiny trinkets. Adults and youth can work together to design objects of varying complexity. You will use airdry clay so you can take them home immediately! Airdry clay can be painted with acrylic paint if you'd like to add some color in the future.
- Ages 6+ are welcomed, if accompanied by a ticket holding adult.Each person participating must register separately for the class. Be sure to sign up ASAP to guarantee your spot and make sure it runs. Some seats may be available the night of, but it is recommended that you sign up early to ensure the class runs. We will confirm or cancel classes by 5pm the Thursday before.We do not contact waitlist participants for 2nd Fridays classes; please do not join a waitlist.The night of, please proceed to the front desk where they will direct you to class.
About the Instructor
Merenda Cecelia lives in Richmond, Va. She is an artist and state certified art educator with extensive experience in mosaic work including several large installations. She has taught for 12 years in a variety of settings including public and private schools, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and The Visual Arts Center since graduating with a BFA in Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She also works at the VMFA planning large community events, and when she is not doing that you can find her in the yoga studio or playing in creeks with her son.
