read moreKurinuki is the Japanese technique of starting with a block of clay, developing the exterior, then hollowing it out. We’ll create an incense or essential oil burner. Students will receive two 3-5 pound blocks of stoneware clay and be shown the basic techniques of forming both the outside and hollowing the inside to create airflow.

read moreIn this four-hour, wet working workshop, students will create a bird bath or garden stool by learning to create small and large basins with a pedestal. We’ll discuss size and depth of basins appropriate for birds and connections for the base that provide maximum stability.
read moreThis block of outdoor studio time is not instructed, but we will have a VisArts Clay teacher actively creating their own body of work, answering questions, or offering suggestions. We’ll stay safe and socially distanced outdoors, socializing and creating art together. Note: You get four hours of time (instead of the two you get inside).
