Classes

Piñata Party (Ages 6-8)

Create a paper mache piñata of your own! A piñata is an object made of paper that is decorated, filled with treats, and then broken open as a celebration. Mexican culture often use piñatas to celebrate a happy occasion. After you create your art, on the last day of class we will celebrate by smashing a collaboratively made class piñata full of treats and treasures!

  • This is an On-site course. Students must follow current CDC + VDH guidance outlined on our website: visarts.org
About the Instructor

Sam Skrimpz

I am a trans non-binary muralist and arts educator. I love working with community to make big art together, and especially with queer youth. The art I make in my practice is playful and mystical, and largely inspired by my upbringing in the gulf south, but is now shifting with my trans identity. I work mostly in acrylic paints, and recently collage and gouache, and am looking forward to exploring more mediums.
