ONSITE: Watercolor Workshop: Painting from Nature

In this workshop we will be going over the basic techniques of brushes and tools to create different effects in watercolor. We will draw inspiration from nature, and collect objects like leaves and branches to paint from observation in the studio.

Special Notes

  • Due to a set of stairs, this classroom is not wheelchair accessible. 

    This is an On-site course. Students must follow current Covid-19 protocols, as outlined on our website. On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. Please visit visarts.org for more information.

About the Instructor

Jay Sharpe

Jay Sharpe grew up in Richmond, VA, attended VCU and graduated in 1990 with a BFA in Fine Arts, with a focus on metalsmithing and fine jewelry. Jay promptly began his career at the Hand Workshop (which is now known as Visual Arts Center of Richmond) that same year. He became on of VisArts' Master Teacher recipients in 2014 and hasn't stopped teaching since! His jewelry line, Henléava Jewelry Collection, has been featured in Essence Magazine, Richmond Magazine, and Southern Living Magazine, and worn by several celebrities.
