ONSITE: Shibori Dyeing

Learn to dye fabric using the ancient Japanese tradition of shibori, otherwise known as tie-dye. You’ll use fiber reactive dyes to add color to white fabric. Your finished fabric will be perfect for quilting, garment sewing and home decorating.

Special Notes

  • All materials are provided; participants will get a portion of cotton fabric and two silk scarves to dye. Bring a pair of rubber dishwashing style rubber gloves and wear "studio" clothes; the dyes used in this class will stain clothing. You are encouraged to bring a bag lunch.

This is an On-site course. Students must follow current Covid-19 protocols, as outlined on our website. On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. Please visit visarts.org for more information.
