ONSITE: Introduction to Woodworking: Make a Modern Stool
Transform rough-cut lumber into a modern stool. You’ll learn to use a table saw, planer, router and a variety of hand tools.
Special Notes
- This class does not meet on 6/19.
Due to the amount of information learned in each class, it is very helpful to attend every class. Safety glasses, closed toed shoes are required to work in the woodshop. Rings and bracelets of any sort should be removed. Loose and dangling clothing should be tucked in or removed all together. Long hair must be tied into a bun and/or secured by clips.
This instructor speaks Spanish, but class is held in English.
Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
This is an On-site course. Students must follow current Covid-19 protocols, as outlined on our website. On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. Please visit visarts.org for more information.
About the Instructor
Mauricio Vargas
Mauricio is an interdisciplinary artist based out of Richmond, Virginia. His work spans a variety of topics, from public art and media theory, to ancestral knowledge and climate justice. Often in dialogue with his Colombian-American heritage, the outcome is a practice that dances between fact and fiction through text, artifacts, and community engagement.
