Call for Illustrators is Open for VisArts’ Featured Illustrator Program

The Visual Arts Center of Richmond (VisArts) has announced an open call for illustrators to apply for its Featured Illustrator Program.

Each year, the Visual Arts Center of Richmond selects four artists to serve as Featured Illustrators. The artists will illustrate a class catalog and a special illustration project for the arts organization. Selected illustrators are also invited to lead a workshop on the topic of their choice. Illustrators receive a $1,500 honorarium in addition to standard instructor fees associated with teaching a workshop. The Featured Illustrator Program is open to all illustrators in all stages of their careers. VisArts will prioritize artists who have a demonstrated creative practice and are either emerging illustrators or are exploring the medium as part of their creative practice.

VisArts welcomes all applicants and prioritizes applications from BIPOC artists and those that come from groups that have been historically underrepresented due to age, disability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or socioeconomic status. The application deadline for the Featured Illustrator program is July 31, 2022.
