Introduction to Clay: Wheel + Hand Building (Ages 12-14)

Students begin by getting acquainted with hand building clay before diving into the wheel! They will learn the fundamentals of hand building techniques (pinch, coil, slab) and start to throw on the wheel. Students will also learn how to add color with glaze as their works come out of the kiln!

  • Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.

About the Instructor

Adah Kanter

Adah Kanter (she/her) is a maker by nature who loves sharing her knowledge with others looking to explore their own creativity. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she earned her BFA in Craft/Material Studies and her BFA in Art Education. Adah loves creating with fibers (her first material obsession) with knitting, weaving, and quilting and also working in clay with hand building and wheel throwing functional work that she adds color and texture very reminiscent of textiles. She has experience teaching the entire student spectrum, from her ten years teaching art to PreK-12 students in Richmond-area schools to adults of all ages in community art studios, including Studio Two Three.
