Linocut Printmaking: Home Portraits
This course will explore linocut printmaking by defining ‘home’ and creating a print of it. This could be a building, a person, a pet, a park, anywhere that evokes the feeling of home. Sophie will be bringing in examples of her own work and portraits of her ‘home’ to share with the class. This course is open to all levels of printmakers from beginner to advanced. There will be an optional print exchange at the end of the course!
Special Notes
- Please come to class with a few photo references you might like to use to create your print! Where or what is home for you- Is it the physical building you live in? Is it your favorite restaurant? Your best friend? A park near where you grew up?
Accessibility notes: Many artmaking processes require the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, fine motor skills/finger dexterity, repetitive motions, vision, and some amount of physical strength. VisArts values making classes accessible to everyone, and is always happy to work with students to make accommodations when possible. Please reach out to [email protected] with specific questions related to accessibility or accommodations.
Students need finger dexterity in carving the prints. It is important to have the hand control to safely carve a block.
Paid studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. Please visit visarts.org for more information.
Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
