Thanks to the support of individuals like you, VisArts has grown to reach one in five Richmonders each year.

Here’s a snapshot of some of the key groups that make up our community today:

• 10,000+ students across 1,600 classes — growing from 3,600 students in 2015
• 250 teaching artists — employing the greatest number of visual artists in Virginia
• 5,000+ youth + adults in free programs — including 500 active military members + veterans
• 375+ financial aid + scholarship recipients — reducing financial barriers to art education
• 1,000+ independent artists with studio access — tripling in the past five years
• 38 artists-in-residence — growing from only two in 2018

Sustaining our Growth

When the organization first relocated to the former Virginia Dairy in 1985, we could have only dreamed that one day VisArts would outgrow that space. Our current building has reached its capacity to meet the demand from this community. We want the ability to welcome more community partners and invite the 3,000+ individuals sitting on class waitlists each year.  The purchase of 1914 W. Main St. will allow us to expand and become more accessible to all who want to be here.

Now is the time for the Visual Arts Center of Richmond to meet the needs of our community and grow with them—at our current home, and now, down Main Street, too.
