Classes
Walk, Clip, Print: Ecoprinting on Fabric
In this one-day workshop, mindfulness, natural-dyes, and textiles collide to create a communal art-making experience. Students will be taken on a guided walk around The Fan District and learn how to identify plants that can be used for natural dying and eco-printing. Students will explore and create eco-prints on fabric, ink-transfer prints on fabric, and hammer/paint printing on fabric. Students will leave the class with knowledge of how to prep and dye fabric using plants (eco-printing), how to paint and ink-transfer/stamp with plants, and what to look for when searching for plants to naturally dye with.
Special Notes
- Please wash your fabrics in the washing machine (normal settings, warm water) and dry before bringing it to the workshop!
Accessibility notes: Many artmaking processes require the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, fine motor skills/finger dexterity, repetitive motions, vision, and some amount of physical strength. This class takes ~30min walks around the Fan District. VisArts values making classes accessible to everyone, and is always happy to work with students to make accommodations when possible. Please reach out to [email protected] with specific questions related to accessibility or accommodations.
Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
