Classes

Comics + Sequential Storytelling

Become fluent in one of the most popular forms of communication today: Comics! We will cover not only how to make comics, but also the 'why' behind them. Why do we structure panels in certain ways? Why do certain formats support our intended message? Why are there comic "rules," and how can we break them? This class will be tailored to the needs of individual students, working to provide growth exercises but also support with any existing goals.

Special Notes

  • No drawing skills or preexisting experience is needed. This class is inclusive of digital formats should students wish to bring their own laptop or tablet to work from, but will not be provided. Basic drawing materials will be provided.
Accessibility notes: Many artmaking processes require the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, fine motor skills/finger dexterity, repetitive motions, vision, and some amount of physical strength. VisArts values making classes accessible to everyone, and is always happy to work with students to make accommodations when possible. Please reach out to [email protected] with specific questions related to accessibility or accommodations.
