A: Clay Wall Hangings (Adults and Youth 9+ with a Registered Adult)

Spend an evening in the clay studio with ceramicist Claudia Meyer and create hangable art out of clay. Learn the simple and easy to grasp technique of scoring and attaching two pieces of clay together to create something special. Make a name tag for your bedroom or for above your pet's food bowl, a sun catcher, or a decorative wall sculpture. We will use airdry clay, so you can bring your objects home immediately!

• Payments for this class are non-refundable and non-transferable. In the event that you are not able to attend your class, please reach out to our front desk team so we can make your seat available to another student.
  
  Ages below 18 are welcome, if accompanied by a ticket holding adult.
  
  Each person participating must register separately for the class. Be sure to sign up ASAP to guarantee your spot. Some seats may be available the night of, but it is recommended that you sign up early to ensure the class runs. We will confirm or cancel classes by 5pm the Thursday before.
  
  We do not contact waitlist participants for 2nd Fridays classes; please do not join a waitlist.

About the Instructor

Claudia Meyer

Claudia is an artist and object-maker living and working in Richmond, VA primarily working in clay and paper media. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BFA in Sculpture + Extended Media in 2020. Her handbuilt works in clay, although they are made of hardened earth, feel soft to the touch. Their colors are as jovial and earthly as bursting laughter. These objects emit energy through their whimsical forms and patterns. She learns from the way that the moon and the trees wave to each other and the deep knowledge rooted in the earth and our bodies.

Through her teaching, she aims to democratize the classroom space, leveling the student/teacher relationship to one of reciprocity rather than authority. Her students learn just as much from the world around them as they do from each other. In her classroom, Claudia exists as a guide for her creative students' journeys and she endeavors to teach her students limitlessness in their creative pursuits.
