Internships
About Internships
Internships at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond show students what it’s like to work for a nonprofit arts center. Interns must be at least 18 years old and are expected to work a minimum of 8 – 10 hours per week. Most experiences are unpaid but can be completed for academic credit. All interns may take one art class at VisArts, free of charge.

Education
- Winter/Spring Semester (Jan – May): Applications due Oct 1, notified by Nov 1
- Summer Semester (Jun – Aug): Applications due Mar 1, notified by Apr 1
Starting in the summer of 2026, summer education interns will receive a stipend of $800. - Fall Semester (Sep– Dec): Applications due Jun 1, notified by Jul 1

Work Study
The Visual Arts Center of Richmond is an approved work-study site for Virginia Commonwealth University students. Students apply through VCU. Most will be placed in the facilities or exhibitions departments. If you have questions, please reach out to [email protected].
