About the Instructor
Julie Elkins
Julie Elkins has a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. She gained international attention for her porcelain sculptures exhibited at SOFA Chicago in 2003. Her work is in the permanent collections of The Mint Museum of Craft and Design, The Fuller Craft Museum, and the Kamn Teapot Foundation. She is a professor at Virginia State University, an instructor at Visual Arts Center of Richmond, and a mentoring artist at Milk River Arts. She leads many creative workshops in the community, and was the Sculptor in Residence at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in collaboration with the Rodin exhibition.
