Digital Fabrication Equipment Rental
VisArts is happy to provide rental opportunities in our Digital Fabrication Studio (DFS) to experienced individuals. Your DFS equipment rental also includes a technical consultation and preparation assistance. DFS equipment rentals are available for FDM and SLA 3D printing and laser engraving.
DFS rental appointments are intended for consultation and assistance with set up and execution of printing, etching, and/or cutting previously completed 2/3D files. Construction of 2/3D files should be completed independently, at home or in the digital lab, prior to scheduled appointment. Additional material fees will be assessed by VisArts technician based on process and medium. Multiple prints may be scheduled for one appointment based on the limitations of the tools. Print clean-up/curing and pick-up will be scheduled with the technician at the time of printing.
Steps:
- Create your 2/3D file.
- Submit form for DFS appointment. The VisArts technician will respond and coordinate appointment.
- Meet with the VisArts technician to review, set up and print/etch/cut file(s). The VisArts technician will coordinate a pick-up time.
- Pick up, clean, cure, and finish your print(s).

SLA printing includes:
- File assessment and preparation
- Resin in assorted colors: grey, white, black, clear
- Clean-up materials: nitrile gloves, eye protection, alcohol, silicone cleaning mat, washing and UV curing station, paper towels, metal and plastic spatulas, various sandpaper grits
FDM printing includes:
- File assessment and preparation
- Resin in assorted colors: grey, white, black, red, blue
- Clean-up materials: nitrile gloves, eye protection, silicone cleaning mat, metal and plastic spatulas, cutters various sandpaper grits
Laser engraving includes:
- File assessment and preparation
*Users may provide their own materials upon approval

- We will strive to accurately replicate the design and specifications provided.
- Due to the nature of 3D printing technology, minor imperfections may occur, including layer lines, support marks, slight warping, and small dimensional variations due to material shrinkage and printer calibration.
- While we aim for the best possible results, exact dimensional accuracy and surface finish cannot be guaranteed.
Printing Policy
The 2/3D printer may be used only for lawful purposes. VisArts will not allow printing of material that is:
- Prohibited by local, state or federal law.
- Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well‐being of others.
- Obscene or otherwise inappropriate.
- In violation of another’s intellectual property rights. For example, the printer will not be used to reproduce material subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection.
