Introduction to Video + Sound

Learn to work with video using Adobe Premiere to create a short film around dreams and memories (broadly interpreted). Student video and public domain video archives will be used to create these sequences. Special importance will also be placed on the treatment of sound and its role in filmmaking.

Special Notes

• Students should have a sketchbook for planning and note-taking, as well as an external hard drive for working with large amount video files. Students provide their own video camera or smartphone for shooting video, and headphones.
  This class does not meet on 10/31.
  Accessibility notes: Many artmaking processes require the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, fine motor skills/finger dexterity, repetitive motions, vision, and some amount of physical strength. About the Instructor

Caleb Flood

Caleb R Flood is an artist and musician based in Richmond, VA. His work navigates the remediation of identity and embodiment through sound, sculpture, painting, and performance. Caleb holds a BFA in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University, and an MFA in Creative Technologies from Virginia Tech. Since 2005, Caleb has regularly performed live music and recorded albums with a smattering of musicians along the east coast, and has maintained a steady output of material as a solo artist. They currently teach in the Art Foundations program at VCU.
