Analog Pixel Art (Ages 6 – 8) – New!
Students will learn how to create pixel art in non-digital ways. We will make a variety of projects, including (but not limited to) perler beads, collage, mosaics, and graph paper drawing. This will be a fun way to explore a digital art form in a physical way, and learn techniques for creating different designs. This will be a very student-directed class; we’ll provide different materials and demonstrations of how to use them, but students can create artwork with whatever themes they are interested in exploring.
Special Notes
- Pixel art will require fine motor skills such as cutting, gluing, and pinching small items.
Accessibility notes: In youth art classes, many artmaking processes involve (age-appropriate) fine motor skills, physical strength, vision, and ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. VisArts values making classes accessible to everyone, and is always happy to work with students to make accommodations when possible. About the Instructor
Hannah Larney
Hannah Larney is an artist and educator based in RVA. She graduated from VCUarts in 2018 with a BFA in Art Education, and spent four years as the art teacher at Acquinton Elementary School in King William County. Hannah views art as a means of exploring ideas and making sense of the world, and she encourages her students to take creative risks and express themselves in new ways. When she's not in a classroom you'll usually find her reading a book, working in the garden, or running on a trail by the river.
