November 13, 2016 News

The Visual Arts Center of Richmond will open its studios to the community on Friday, Dec. 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. for Present Factory, its annual holiday open house.

Present Factory offers kids and adults the chance to make holiday gifts throughout the 15 art studios in VisArts’ 30,000-square-foot facility. The exhibition, “Conjurers: Artists Imbue the Ordinary,” is also open. All programming is completely free.

Guests can make screen-printed wrapping paper, Shrinky Dink charm bracelets, clay ornaments, hand-printed greeting cards and gift tags, origami and pom-pom gift bows, snow globes, holiday storybooks and more.

Present Factory features food by Goatocado, beer by Hardywood Park Craft Brewery and a hot cocoa bar. Parlor Salon’s stylists will be back with hair chalking. Members of VisArts’ Clay Guild and glass studio will sell their work, and artist demonstrations will take place throughout the building. Kids can enjoy a holiday movie in VisArts’ Dominion Room.

Event sponsors include Chop Suey Books, Classic Party, Goatocado, Kroger, Plaza Art Supplies and Rostov’s.

Present Factory is a rain or shine event and takes the place of VisArts’ First Friday Art Samplers in December. Extra parking is available at Binford Middle School.
