Advanced Animation
Ages 10 - 14
Designed for students who have taken at least TWO animation classes at VisArts, this class will introduce more advanced techniques involving sound, camera, and armatures in the animation process. CD or DVD transfer is available upon completion of class.

Grasp the secret process of bringing inanimate subjects to life as you design and produce your own 2-D and 3-D animation sequences, working with drawings, paper cut-out and clay. CD or DVD transfer is available upon completion of class.

Anime & Manga Cartooning Workshops
Ages 9 - 13
Learn to draw Anime and Manga style characters! This workshop will cover illustration techniques that will help young cartoonists develop their own characters and scenes drawn in the popular Japanese cartooning styles. (These are three sections of the same class.)

Fashion Design & Illustration

Students will learn to design and illustrate their own fashions and fabrics using fabric swatches, watercolor, ink and colored pencils. Discussions will include a brief history of fashion and illustration as we explore fashion through art.

Introduction to Graphic Design

Do you ever look at a poster or a T-shirt and think, “I could do better than that!” This course gives you a chance to prove it. We will work on Mac G5s to learn the basics of Adobe PhotoshopCS and produce personalized designs for T-shirt transfers, CD covers and more!

Using ceramics techniques used for thousands of years by ancient cultures, students will produce both functional and sculptural form from clay that reference tribal designs, motifs and patterns.

Jewelry Design Weekend Workshop for Teens
Ages 12 - 16
Learning metalsmithing techniques, students will work with copper, brass and silver to fabricate a pin, bracelet, or other piece of artistic jewelry. Students will use files, hammers and patinas to create their own look to their piece.

In this series of classes, beginning students will develop an understanding of jewelry design and technique and returning students explore new methods of design. In each section, we will build skills by working on three projects, creating artistic jewelry out of brass, copper and other mixed media.

Sew a Doll
Ages 10 - 14
Explore hand-sewing and embroidery techniques to create your own wool felt doll. Embroidery details will be used to create faces, and each student will learn how to stitch secure, straight stitches and decorate their doll’s clothes with stitched art.
