Weave Your Own Rag Rug
Learn to weave your own rag rug. We’ll explore the basics of weaving on a floor loom and leave the class with at least one finished 2’ x 3’ rug. Bring fabric scraps like old linens, t–shirts or even jeans. Rag rugs are easy and fun to weave and they make great gifts.
- Bring scrap fabrics, old clothing, bed linens, etc. from home to tear into strips and use for your rag rug. All other materials are provided.
- Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
- This weekend workshop is from 10-4 on Saturday and 1-4 on Sunday.
About the Instructor
Patrick Carter holds a BFA in Craft and Material Studies, with a focus in weaving, from Virginia Commonwealth University. After graduating, he has worked for several local weavers and spent time at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. Using pigments and dyes, his weavings explore color relationships, gestural lines, and most recently the abstraction of the human form. His current focus is on translating drawings to woven cloth through the technique of warp painting.See More Classes By Instructor
