ONSITE: Ceramic Tiles + Transfers
Learn transfer techniques such as plaster, monoprint, and stamping with a focus on tiles and 2-D work. Create a set of tiles and develop your personal style and use of imagery. This class is great for students who want to develop drawing and painting skills for their ceramic work. These ideas can be further developed onto 3-D pieces. We'll cover how to glue and grout your tiles for display.
- Fee covers some underglaze colors, if you would like to purchase more colors, Merenda will let you know how and where to do that during the first classes.
- Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
- You will receive 25 pounds of clay; additional clay is available for purchase.

About the Instructor
Merenda Cecelia lives in Richmond, Va. She is an artist and state certified art educator with extensive experience in mosaic work including several large installations. She has taught for 12 years in a variety of settings including public and private schools, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and The Visual Arts Center since graduating with a BFA in Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She also works at the VMFA planning large community events, and when she is not doing that you can find her in the yoga studio or playing in creeks with her son.
