Classes
ONSITE: Sanggam: Korean Slip Inlay
Expand your ceramic decoration skillset by learning Sanggam, a traditional Korean slip inlay technique. Learn the history of this traditional style as well as how to lay out designs and motifs on clay surfaces.
Special Notes
- Knowledge of the ceramic process is necessary as this technique can be challenging for beginners. Blank clay tiles will be provided for practice and can be finished as coasters. Students are strongly encouraged to bring in their own leather hard pieces to decorate. Cone 6 White and black slip will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring their own slip, stains, or underglazes. Students are also encouraged to bring their own carving and trimming tools. Loop carving tools or any tool with a “v” shape tip will work well. Trimming tools with a wider flat blade will work well for this class.
You will receive 25 pounds of clay; additional clay is available for purchase.
Instructor speaks French, some Korean, and some Russian, but the class is held in English.
