ONSITE: Mural Painting: From Digital Design to Painted Wall
Learn how to mock-up a mural and then paint it on the side of VisArts! For inspiration, we will go on a walking tour of Richmond murals and talk about formal qualities of murals and their concepts. Students will work together around a common theme to design and sketch a mural. Sketches will be arranged and finalized to create a digital mural mock-up in Procreate on iPads. We will also decide on a color pallete as a group and apply it to our digital sketch. After the design is created, we will prime our wall, trace the mural design, and paint the collective work. Our collectively-made mural that will be on display on a VisArts wall for a season!
- This class will require being outside. Class may use VisArts' iPads, but if you have your own and wish to bring it, you are able.
Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.

About the Instructor
I am a trans non-binary muralist and arts educator. I love working with community to make big art together, and especially with queer youth. The art I make in my practice is playful and mystical, and largely inspired by my upbringing in the gulf south, but is now shifting with my trans identity. I work mostly in acrylic paints, and recently collage and gouache, and am looking forward to exploring more mediums.
