ONSITE: Drawing + Painting Guided Independent Study

Bring your own project in any medium to class and work independently with the help, support, encouragement and instruction of the teacher. Goals and intentions will be set at the bgeinning of the class so the instructor can better help you reach your goals. The perfect opportunity to get the support you’ve been needing to work on the project you’ve been wanting to do! Critique will be held the final day of class.

Special Notes

  • Students bring what they need individually to work on their own projects. Students should already have a very strong studio practice. This class will give students an opportunity to work on individual projects at their own pace in the company of others, with the support and guidance of the instructor. The instructor may also offer some exercises for exploration, creativity, or skill building depending on the desires of the group. Critiques will occasionally be help, again depending on the desire of the group.
  • Due to a set of stairs, this classroom is not wheelchair accessible. 
  • Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.

About the Instructor

Susan Singer

Susan Singer is a prolific full-time artist who has produced dozens of one-person art shows on topics related to the human body (Pregnant Nudes, 12 Naked Men, Scar Series, and Beyond Barbie, to name a few); landscapes (she fell in love with Iceland and paints it frequently as well as the James River); patterned mandalas; and art books. Susan’s interests are quite diverse, but all her work has at its core the desire to empower others and to help them follow their own passion in order to live the most amazing life possible. Susan teaches many different classes at the Visual Arts Center including Introduction to Pastels, Zentangles, Visual Journaling, Follow Your Bliss, Beginning Drawing Intensive, among others.
