Handbuilding with Clay: Flower Pots + Vases (Ages 9-11)
Learn various hand building techniques such as pinching, coiling and using slabs to create vessels that hold flowers and plants. We will make planters, vases, wall pockets, hanging vases, and air plant holders! We will paint with underglazes to add color.
Special Notes
- Students age 6-8 will use airdry clay that can be taken home on Friday. Students who are 9+ may use clay that needs to be fired and will be picked up at a later date.
This is an On-site course. Students must follow current CDC + VDH guidance outlined on our website: visarts.org
About the Instructor
Christine Orr
Christine received her BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 2015. She is currently living and working as a studio artist in Richmond, VA. She recently completed a Post-Baccalaureate year at Virginia Commonwealth University. In her free time she loves to sew and knit...always working with her hands!
