Art League: Documentary Film Bootcamp – NEW! (Ages 15–18)
Explore various styles of documentary filmmaking through short screenings and class discussion. Learn the fundamentals of digital documentary through hands-on exercises including: videography, field audio recording, location scouting, lighting interviews, use of archival footage, editing and sound design using Adobe Premiere and/or Open Source Editing Software. Collaborate with your team to research, write a treatment and pitch for a documentary film.
- Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
Students should bring a DSLR, cell phone, or other digital video camera to class. Student will also need an external hard drive or flash drive to save their work.
About the Instructor
Ariana Hamidi is a filmmaker who combines autobiographical fiction and political satire through performance art, re-photography, animated texts, and 16mm hand processes. Her films have been shown throughout the US and internationally including Anthology Film Archives, Int'l Film Festival Rotterdam, Athens Int’l Film & Video Festival, MadCat Int’l Womens Film Festival, and Beijing Int’l Film Festival. Her film and companion chapbook, Dear Cyclops, was published by Bronze Skull Press. She has an MFA in Performing Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a BFA in Film, Photography, and Visual Arts from Ithaca College.
