About the Studio
In addition to a letterpress studio, VisArts also has a printmaking studio that can host a variety of printmaking and book arts processes. The studio is equipped with six vacuum screen-printing stations and two mobile printing stations for screen-printing, as well as an enclosed exposure unit. The printmaking studio also has a Charles Brand printing press for relief and intaglio processes. Mounted storage racks are available to students to store screens that are in-progress, and inks, squeegees and other basic materials are available.
During open studio hours, students are welcome to use all equipment except the printing press.
The studio should be left as clean or cleaner than you found it; all ink should be wiped up, all prints stored on the drying rack and all screens washed. Some tools are stored in a locked storage closet; check out the key at the front desk and return it when you leave.
These hours are for the fall session, which runs from September 11 through December 4. Please note that there are no open studio hours on First Fridays.
