About the Darkroom
VisArts’ darkroom is equipped with 12 enlargers, temperature-regulating sinks and all chemistry and tools necessary for traditional black and white photography. A classroom adjoining the darkroom includes a film-loading room, an iMac and inkjet printer, light table and a set of studio lights.
Students will use chemistry provided by VisArts but must bring their own film and paper. The studio should be left as clean or cleaner than when you found it. Students should not mix chemistry; please request this of the darkroom monitor. Please be respectful of others working in the darkroom and remember to follow proper safety procedures when handling all chemistry.
These hours are for the fall session, which runs from September 11 through December 4. Due to renovations in the photography studio, open studio hours for the photography studio and darkroom will begin Tuesday, September 19. Please note that there are no open studio hours on First Fridays.
