About the Studio
VisArts’ glass studios provide the space and equipment needed for glass fusing, stained glass and torch-working processes. The main studio includes:
- Large worktables
- Glass-cutting equipment
- A light table
We also provide storage space for student work and both fused and stained glass in a variety of colors.
Our torch-working studio provides space for up to six students to work at the torch.
Students in both the fused glass and stained glass classes are welcome to take advantage of open studio. At this time, students enrolled in torch-working courses cannot use torches during open studio hours.
Kilns are only to be loaded, fired and unloaded by glass instructors. Some equipment, like the glass saw, is locked and unable to be used during open studio; however soldering irons, glass grinders and basic tools are available for use. Some tools are kept in a locked storage cabinet; check out the key at VisArts’ front desk.
The studio should be left as clean or cleaner than you find it. Wipe up glass dust with a damp cloth and put all glass and tools away. Store your in-process projects on the student shelves.
These hours are for the week of February 20-26, 2017.
