About the Studio
VisArts’ fiber studio is home to both wet and dry fiber processes—everything from spinning and weaving to fabric dyeing and pattern-drafting happens in the space. The studio includes:
- Six floor looms
- Eight spinning wheels
- Eight Baby Lock sewing machines
- Two large work tables
- Two sewing tables
- A washer and dryer
- A stove
- Irons and ironing boards
- Frame looms
During open studio hours, you may use all the equipment in the room except dyes and the dye stove.
The studio should be left as clean or cleaner than you found it. Stow away equipment, take home your work-in-progress and sweep the floor of all scraps and debris. Students enrolled in loom-weaving classes are allowed to keep their projects on the loom for the duration of their class.
