October 11, 2017 News

The Visual Arts Center of Richmond is proud to announce that it was selected by The Virginia Commission for the Arts as a “50 for 50 Arts Inspiration Award” recipient. VisArts was recognized in the Bedrock Institutions category.

The VCA recognizes bedrock institutions as those that “have been in existence more than ten years, have demonstrated a benefit to the economic health and/or tourism in the community, exhibit artistic excellence, celebrate diversity and showcase Virginia as a cultural destination.”

“VisArts is honored to be recognized alongside so many outstanding organizations and talented artists,” says Stefanie Fedor, executive director of the Visual Arts Center of Richmond. “We’re glad to see Virginia’s art culture growing and thriving.”

VisArts was selected from a pool of over 350 nominees by a panel of former commissioners and arts leaders and confirmed by the full board of the Virginia Commission for the Arts.

Several other Richmond visual arts organizations were recognized as well, including Studio Two Three, 1708 Gallery and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

For 50 years, the VCA has supported and celebrated arts culture in Virginia. The “50 for 50 Arts Inspiration Awards” are a way the organization recognizes programs, individuals and organizations critical to the arts in Virginia.

On Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018 from 1-5 p.m., the VCA will recognize all of the award winners at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. A reception will follow in the Marble Hall.
