Introduction to Faux Finishes
All Levels
This workshop provides an overview of the step-by-step methods involved in the faux-finishing techniques of glazing, stippling, and marbleizing using alkyd paints. Students can apply these techniques to walls or furniture, or use as decorative accents. Instruction covers surface and color preparation, as well as painting and finishing techniques. Students work with sample boards to practice techniques taught. Materials list to be mailed.

Metro Modern
All Levels/Lecture
Take a guided tour of American and European Modernism movements, expressed in the furnishings of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Discussion begins with Bauhaus and includes the iconic Mies van der Rohe, moving on to Eames, Nakashime, Adnet, Mollino and current stars of design such as Hadid, Graves and Gehry. The Ramerts have collected for 30 years from Chicago to LA. Lectures will include lots of “real life” examples and opportunity to meet other collectors. This class will meet at the Metro Modern Gallery, 1919 West Cary Street.
